Best known for their benches (their benches have been cloned and copied by too many companies to name), Rep has now set its sights on becoming a top-tier barbell manufacturer.
Unlike many companies that crank out bar after bar after bar with no meaningful differences (yes, I’m looking directly at you, Rogue), Rep has thoughtfully assembled its new line of bars so that it’s easy to find the perfect bar for your specific training needs.
So let’s take a close look at the new barbell lineup from Rep. I’ll give you all the details of each new bar and who that bar is best suited for.
This is not a review (those will be coming down the road as I have an opportunity to train with the new bars), but hopefully, it will provide you with enough information to buy a barbell you’ll use and love for years.
A Quick Overview of the Rep Fitness Barbell Lineup
One thing I love about this lineup is how clean it is. There is no overlap, and each bar has a specific home. If you are just here for a quick comparison, here’s how they stack up.

How Many Different Barbells Should A Company Sell?
Right now, Rogue Fitness is showing 60 different straight Olympic barbells on their site. Add in color and customization options, and that number goes into the hundreds.
If one of your primary hobbies in life is weight training, you love this.
If you are someone trying to put together a home gym on a budget, this is maddening.
Rep’s new barbell lineup contains nine barbells. Each has a specific purpose. No training need goes unmet with this lineup.
If you can answer the following questions, you can easily find the best Rep Fitness barbell for your garage gym…
- Power bar, Olympic lifting bar, or CrossFit bar?
- 20kg or 15kg? (aka men’s or women’s/youth)
- What color and finish do you want?
- Are you buying a secondary barbell for a specific movement like squats or deadlifts?
That’s it. You just picked out your ideal barbell!
Rep’s new barbell lineup consists of two power bars, two Olympic lifting bars, two CrossFit bars, and two specialty barbells (one for squatting and one for deadlifting), and there’s the lineup!
Throw in some color and finish options once you pick your bar, and you now have one of the easiest to decide on barbell assortments around.
And every single new Rep barbell comes with a lifetime warranty! This should tell you just how well-built these new bars are! Their old lineup could not boast this feature.
So let’s take a closer look at each one. And remember that these are all new bars, not minor upgrades on the old ones!
Power Bars
I think a power bar is ideal for almost all home gyms. It’s built for the type of lifting almost everyone does at home, and it’s versatile enough to work for nearly anything else you want to use it for.
The only thing a power bar isn’t well-suited to is Olympic and CrossFit style lifting (which is why Rep also makes bars for those two uses).
The Black Diamond Bar
***The Black Diamond bar is currently not available due to supply chain issues. I’ll update this post with current links the moment it is available for sale.
Replacing the Power Bar v2 (see my review here), the Black Diamond bar is a 20kg powerlifting barbell. It’s available in six different color and finish combinations.
The knurl is a medium, volcano-style knurling with IPF link rings and a center knurl link. The sleeves are smooth (not ribbed) and spin on bronze bushings.
The Black Diamond bar is currently delayed due to production and supply chain issues. The button below links to the Double Black Diamond bar for now. It’s the same bar with a more aggressive knurl.
More DetailsIn my opinion, the Black Diamond bar is the best barbell for 95% of all garage gym owners. The combination of being available in stainless steel combined with Rep’s quality at affordable prices make this the ideal bar for almost everyone.

The Double Black Diamond Bar
The Double Black Diamond bar is a 20kg powerlifting bar that replaces the Power Bar EX (see my review here). It’s available in six different color and finish combinations.
The knurl is a very aggressive mountain-style knurling with IPF link rings and a center knurl. The sleeves are smooth (not ribbed) and spin on bronze bushings.
A word of caution to everyone else: If your calluses are not built up significantly, this bar may be uncomfortable to use. In my testing, I did not like using it as much as other bars with slightly less aggressive knurling.

Mixed-Use Training Bars (aka CrossFit bars)
The flagship barbells in Rep’s new lineup are their mixed-use training bars. Built for those who want a single bar ideally suited for powerlifting, Olympic lifting, CrossFit WODs, and HIIT training, a mixed-use bar can serve as your only barbell.
With that in mind, I still don’t recommend this bar type for most home gym owners. Most people only use their bar for traditional presses, squats, rows, and deadlifts.
If that’s you, a power bar is a much better choice due to its center knurl, larger diameter, and reduced sleeve spin.
However, a mixed-use bar is an ideal solution if you are doing multiple types of training in your garage gym and only want to buy one barbell.
The Colorado Bars (15kg & 20kg)
Billed as their “flagship barbells,” the 15kg and 20kg Colorado bars from Rep Fitness represent the most fully featured and well-designed bars Rep has ever made. These mixed-use bars are designed to provide one bar to meet all of your training needs.
The 15kg Colorado bar is a 15 kg mixed-use barbell. It’s available in three different color and finish combinations.
The knurl is a medium volcano-style knurling with dual IWF & IPF knurl rings and no center knurl. The sleeves are smooth (not ribbed) and spin on composite bushings.
This 15kg version is smaller all around than the 20kg version. It is shorter with less loadable sleeve length and a small diameter. The 15kg bar comes in fewer finishes than the 20kg model.

The Black Canyon Bar
Love the idea of the Colorado bar, but not the price? Enter the Black Canyon bar. This is a mixed-use barbell with all the same great build quality of the Colorado bar, but slightly scaled back to hit a lower price point.
The two big differences are the hybrid bushings (vs. composite on the Colorado bars) and fewer finish options. Neither of those are world-changing differences, so if budget is a concern, the Black Canyon bar might just be ideal for you!
The Black Canyon bar is a 20kg mixed-use barbell. It’s available in two different color and finish combinations.
The knurl is a medium volcano-style knurling with dual IWF & IPF knurl rings and no center knurl. The sleeves are smooth (not ribbed) and spin on hybrid bushings/bearings.
The Black Canyon bar is a scaled down version of Rep’s Colorado bars. It offers those in search of a great lower-cost mixed-use bar an ideal solution.

Olympic Lifting Bars
Olympic lifting (specifically the snatch and the clean & jerk) is a high-skill undertaking requiring a coach and much practice.
It’s not something most people can or should do at home by themselves.
But for those who have put in the time and effort to learn this type of lifting, a barbell made specifically to aid in those two lifts is beneficial. And that’s where Rep’s new Olymoic lifting bars come in.
The Alpine Bars (15kg & 20kg)
The next two bars in Rep’s lineup are the Alpine Olympic lifting bars. Made with the explosiveness of Olympic lifting in mind, these two bars are perfect for all dedicated Olympic lifting athletes.
While the 15kg and 20kg versions of this bar share a lot of commonalities, there are a few differences as well. The features these two bars share make them perfect for Olympic lifting.
If you compete in Olympic lifting, one of the Alpine bars is ideal for your home gym. It’s perfect for training those two specific Olympic lifts.
If you train other movements besides the Snatch and the Clean and Jerk, I wouldn’t recommend one of these bars as an all-around solution. Instead, I’d recommend one of the Colorado bars listed above.
The 15kg Alpine bar is a 15kg Olympic weightlifting barbell. It’s available in one color and finish (hard chrome shaft and sleeves).
The knurl is a medium volcano-style knurling with IWF knurl rings and no center knurl. The sleeves are ribbed (not smooth) and spin on hybrid needle bearings.
This 15kg version is smaller all around than the 20kg version. It is shorter with less loadable sleeve length and a smaller diameter. The 20kg bar comes in more finishes than this 15kg model.

The Teton Bar
If you like the idea of the Alpine bars, but they are more than you want to spend on a barbell, check out the Teton bar. The Teton Bar is an Olympic lifting barbell made with all the same build quality of the Alpine bars, but scaled back to hit a lower price point.
The main differences are standard needle bearings vs. hybrid, a slightly more aggressive center knurl, and fewer finishes. None of those differences are a huge deal, so if barbell cost is an issue for you, feel comfortable saving some money and going with the Teton bar.
The Teton bar is a 20kg Olympic lifting barbell. It’s available in two different color and finish combinations.
The knurl is a medium volcano-style knurling with dual IWF knurl rings and it does have a center knurl. The sleeves are ribbed and spin on needle bearings.

The Delta Basic Bar
If you don’t care about powerlifting vs. Olympic lifting and just want a solid bar at a great price, the Delta basic bar is for you. The Delta bar was designed as a low-priced mixed-use or powerlifting barbell. Unlike many other bars at this price point, the Delta bar has sleeves that spin on bushings, the same great medium knurl present on all of Rep’s other bars, and a fairly durable bright chrome finish.
Is it as good as the other bars detailed in this article? No. The load capacity is almost half those other bars with less tensile strength and the most basic brass bushings. But…
It is better than any other company’s budget bar offering.
So if you want a basic, no frills barbell that works without spending next month’s rent on it, go for the Delta bar!
*If you are an experienced lifter or someone who lifts heavy, I wouldn’t recommend this barbell. New lifters or those who can’t lift more than their body weight on any given lift are much better suited to a bar like this.
The Delta bar is a 20kg budget-tier power bar that’s also suitable for mixed use. It’s available in one finish.
The knurl is a medium volcano-style knurling with dual IWF & IPF knurl rings, and it does have a center knurl. The sleeves are smooth (not ribbed) and spin on brass bushings.
The Delta bar is ideal for anyone on a budget. The knurl and build quality alone set it apart from other bars at similar price points.

Dedicated Specialty Bars
There are two traditional lifts that can benefit from a barbell made specifically for each: The squat and the deadlift.
For those looking to maximize their performance in these lifts, a specialty barbell may help out quite a bit.
Keep in mind that these types of bars are optional. You do not need either one to perform squats or deadlifts. It’s also important to note that most folks won’t see any benefit from a bar like this.
That said, if you regularly squat or deadlift, these bars have features designed to aid in those specific lifts. While I’m a huge advocate of doing more with less, if your budget allows, you will certainly enjoy both of these bars!
The Helios Squat Bar
The Helios squat bar is a 25kg, 32mm diameter bar explicitly built for squatting.
The bar is longer than standard bars, which makes the walkout from the rack easier, with less chance of banging your plates into the uprights.
The knurl is an aggressive, mountain-style knurl similar to that on their Double Black Diamond power bar and is applied across the entire bar length. With powerlifting knurl marks and a center knurl ring for alignment, your squat game is about to level up with the help of this bar.
The Helios bar comes in one finish with black cerakote on the shaft and black Duracoat on the sleeves.

The Verdict
If you need a new barbell for your home gym, Rep’s new lineup has you covered. Their old lineup, honestly, had some duds in it. This new one does not!
Rep has taken years of customer feedback and funneled it all into this barbell assortment. It’s a giant leap forward for their company and puts them at the top of the barbell game alongside other giants like American Barbell and Kabuki Strength.
Bro, what do you have against Rogue bars? Do you work for Rep or something?
I make a small amount of money on both Rogue and Rep products, there is no difference to my wallet either way. I don’t recommend Rogue bars because I firmly believe there are alternates that are as good (most of the time better) as Rogue at lower prices. Also, I’m not a fan of:
-Sleeves with poor tolerances that move back and forth when they shouldn’t
-Ribbed sleeves on every bar when they only belong on Oly lifting bars.
-Knurl that’s too aggressive for most people
-Way too many options to pick from
-Focus on bar looks instead of bar quality
-Terrible customer service (based on personal experience, multiple times)
-Shipping issues (again based on personal experience, multiple times)
-Sloppy knurl terminations
I have an article ready to go about why I don’t recommend Rogue in most cases, I just don’t like publishing something that is almost entirely negative. I’d rather just make positive recommendations about the products I trust to recommend to others.
All that said, I know there are a ton of Rogue fans out there and if you spend the premium for your product to say
Rogue on the side, you’ll also get a well-made product. They aren’t bad, I just think there is much better for less money.
Any ETA on the Black Diamond bar?
I wish! It’ll get updated on this article as soon as I know.
We just got the Colorado bar in both weights (one for me, one for the wifey) and wow are they awesome! We’ve had Rep bars before, but these are on a completely new level! The details and workmanship are the best we’ve seen. Can’t wait to pick up that squat bar too!
That’s great to hear! I was very excited to see them completely revamp their bar lineup and have every bar they made in that new lineup be a good amount better than their older stuff!
We can’t decide on the multi use or the power bar. I like the idea of dual knurl marks, but my wife like the center knurl on the power bar. Any input on how we decide between them?
I would pick based on how much you barbell back squat. If you are both doing that, I’d stick with a power bar. The center knurl really helps there. If not, then the multi purpose bar is better suited for you. I would also go multi purpose if you are doing any Oly lifting movements like the snatch or the clean and jerk. The center knurl is a huge PIA in those movements. And, of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t at least suggest buying both! lol
Have you replaced your ss power bar with one of these new bars yet? Which one did you go with if you did?
My current primary barbell is the Chewy bar by American Barbell. I haven’t been using it long enough to write a review, but if money isn’t a concern I believe it’s the single best power bar on the market. If money is a concern, though, Reps lineup cannot be beat. The replacement for the ss power bar will be the single black diamond, which isn’t out yet due to supply chain delays. I expect that to be my top recommended bar for the money, but I’ll need to get my hands on it and use it first to say that.
This is a better comparison that what Rep lists on their site.
Wow, thank you!
What are your thoughts on their new technique barbell?
I think if you need a technique barbell, it’s a great option. They advertise it to train powerlifting movements too and I don’t think a technique bar is needed for that. Oly lifts and CrossFit stuff on the other hand would be a great match for this bar.
